This Wednesday i got to work once again with my mentor but this time we were helping at a place with a different group of kids. There was alot of kids ranging from really young to my age. I got to talk to the girl that was my age to find out shes in two grade lower than me because she came from Ethiopia, She was really happy that i wanted to get to know her because she said she feels out of place sometimes so she is always by herself. Then the children played a game they divided into groups and they saw who could build the tallest tower out of paper and last minutes i helped out one group so we won. All the kids were smiling and laughing and it was over all really fun. My task for the next time is to work more with them and see them laugh more because it makes me feel good to see them happy.

January 28, 2014
This Tuesday i was able to work with my mentor again. They children made collages and i was helping the younger ones with cutting things out from the magazines and glueing them down on to a poster paper. I learned a little about what the kids were into based on what kind of things they wanted to put onto their posters. The oldest was having a little bit of trouble because she didnt know wether to put cool stuff or things that she was actually into. I talked to her and told her that she should find the things that she is into cool it doesnt matter what others think and she was really happy and wanted me to help her with her poster. My task for the next time is to talk to the older child a little more and actually get a chance to find out what kind of things she is into and what she likes. I was also able to ask permission to take a picture of them with their posters and it was okay.

Janurary 9, 2014
This thursday was the fifth time that i was able to work with my mentor again. It was a new group of children and they were are younger children. I was able to help one of the older children find something she was able to play on the computar and she was really nice and thought i was really helpful. then i was able to watch the younger ones play with little toys on the carpet. They begged me to help then build something with the leggos and i did and i felt good to later see them smile and having fun playing with something that i helped them build. After it was done i walked the children back to their caregivers. My Mentor told me that she was really happy to be working with me because im a big help and that she really appricates what im doing. That made me happy to see and work with her again with the children because its something i enjoy. My task for the next time is to help my mentor with anything she needs and get more invovled with the children .

Janurary 8, 2014
This wednesday was the fourth time i got the chance to work with my mentor. It was a different meeting at a different place so we were taking care of a different group of children. It was really fun because they did a check in and we got to say our names and what we got for christmas. Most of the children were happy that i was there because i was a teenager and they wanted me to be their friend. They were doing a project of making a vision board , i helped them cut thing out of the magazines that they wanted ini their future and glue it on poster board. The children kept calling my name to come help them and asking me if i thought things were pretty so they could put it in the poster. I felt really accomplished that day like i was able to learn the names and i cant wait till i go back because they were a fun group of children. My task for the next time im with the same group of children is to get to know them and see what kind of things they like.

Janurary 7, 2014
This tuesday was the third time working with my mentor at a meeting they were having for the caregivers. She is in Charge of taking care of the kids so we went into a seperate room to watchi them and have little "projects" for them to do. My mentor put my in charge of watching this little boy because he was to young to do the activity they were doing. I felt really good because she trusted me to play and watch the child and it was fun because it felt good to see the little boy having fun and playing. I really enjoyed it. I helped clean up and take the children back to their "caregivers". I felt good because the caregivers were saying thankyou to me and they really appriciate how im helping and for them to say that meant alot. My next task is to learn the kids names and get more envolved with the activites.

December 14, 2013
Saturday the following day was the second time i worked with my mentor. I was so happy to start that day because it was the day of their Christmas party for the children and caregivers. i was really nervous because my mentor put my in charge of making Christmas trees out of ice cream cones and green frosting with the children. i felt better when we started because it felt good to be able to bring the children happiness for the holiday knowing that they aren't as fortunate as others. After a while they got to see Santa Claus and they even gave the children presents. to see all the happy face from both the children and the caregivers felt to good inside knowing that i help with that. After a while the party seemed kind of dead so i asked if i cold start dancing and playing music with the kids and maybe even sing some Christmas songs. It was so much fun and turned out to be really good. my next task it to maybe talk to kids more and get to know what they are like.
